About Us:
Our client is a leading industrial operation with a strong reputation in the refining sector. Based in Stoke-on-Trent, they are known for their commitment to high safety standards, technical excellence, and a team-driven approach to operations.
They are currently looking for a skilled and reliable Mechanical Fitter to join their dedicated engineering team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out mechanical fitting and maintenance tasks on site equipment and systems.
* Strip down and rebuild a variety of industrial mechanical equipment.
* Remove and install pumps, including vacuum pumps.
* Work with hot oil and thermal heating systems.
* Perform welding tasks as required for maintenance and repairs.
* Participate in tank/vessel entry and cleaning operations.
* Carry out routine and reactive maintenance to reduce downtime and maintain plant efficiency.
* Participate in the out-of-hours call-out rota (minimum 4 hours pay per call-out).
* Follow all site health, safety, and environmental procedures.
What they Offer:
* £36,000 basic salary
* £2,250 annual cover payment
* Extensive overtime opportunities – many team members average 30–40 hours/month
* Call-out pay:
* Minimum 4 hours at time-and-a-half
* Double time on Sundays and Bank Holidays
* Tank Vessel Cleaning Bonus:
* £112 per entry
* Most fitters complete 6–10 entries/month, significantly boosting earnings

Requirements:
* Time-served mechanical fitter with a solid background in industrial maintenance
* Experience in stripping down and rebuilding mechanical equipment
* Skilled in removing/installing pumps and working with vacuum systems
* Familiarity with hot oil and thermal heating systems
* Basic welding skills are advantageous
* Comfortable working in confined spaces (training provided if required)
* Flexible and reliable with a strong work ethic
