About Mech Electrics
At Mech Electrics Ltd, we pride ourselves on delivering first-class recruitment services within the building services and infrastructure sector. Working with leading M&E contractors, we help deliver projects that shape a more sustainable future. Our latest assignment is on behalf of a specialist contractor at the forefront of decentralised energy systems.
The Project
This hospital-based scheme, valued at approximately £10M, focuses on improving energy performance across the estate. The project includes de-steaming the hospital and replacing ageing boiler systems with high-efficiency heat pumps, in addition to other energy-saving initiatives. Works will involve MEP upgrades, integration of new BMS controls, and improvements to external fabric through selective cladding enhancements.
The Role
We’re looking for a Mechanical Project Manager with proven experience in complex healthcare or energy infrastructure environments. This is an excellent opportunity to deliver tangible improvements to patient environments while supporting the NHS’s journey toward decarbonisation.
Key Responsibilities:
*
Lead mechanical package delivery, from pre-construction planning through to final commissioning.
*
Coordinate the installation of energy systems including heat pumps, pipework modifications, and thermal insulation.
*
Manage subcontractors and direct labour to ensure programme milestones are achieved.
*
Maintain stringent HSEQ standards across a live hospital environment.
*
Collaborate with electrical teams, fabric contractors, and BMS specialists to ensure seamless integration.
*
Work closely with the client team and hospital estates to manage logistics, access, and permits.
*
Track procurement and manage supply chain performance against deadlines.
*
Provide regular progress reporting and ensure full documentation of variations, RAMS, and technical submittals.
What We’re Looking For:
*
A proven track record in delivering mechanical services on large-scale healthcare or energy projects.
*
Experience working in live environments, ideally hospitals or similar critical infrastructure.
*
Strong knowledge of low-carbon technologies including heat pumps and BMS systems.
*
Effective communicator, able to lead site-based teams and liaise confidently with client and stakeholder groups.
*
Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or building services (HNC/HND/Degree).
*
SMSTS, CSCS and ideally First Aid certification.
*
Familiarity with CDM regulations and working in compliance with NHS technical standards.
*
A solution-driven mindset with excellent organisational and planning skills.
This role is ideal for a technically astute, delivery-focused professional seeking a role with long-term environmental impact and high visibility within the healthcare energy sector.
