The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a respected and long-established energy solutions contractor. Recognised for delivering cutting-edge decentralised energy and low-carbon installations across the healthcare, commercial, and residential sectors, their work is underpinned by engineering excellence and a commitment to sustainability.
As part of their continued success, they are seeking a Mechanical Project Manager to oversee a £10M energy infrastructure scheme on a live hospital site. This role offers the chance to be part of a technically ambitious project, involving CHP systems, energy centres, and complex mechanical installations, all delivered to critical healthcare standards.
The Role
As Mechanical Project Manager, you will take ownership of the full project lifecycle—from pre-construction through to commissioning and client handover. Working closely with internal teams, external consultants, and NHS stakeholders, you’ll ensure high-performance delivery with safety, programme, and quality at the forefront.
Your responsibilities will include:

Leading and coordinating mechanical works, ensuring programme and budget adherence

Works include de steaming the campus and adding heat pumps and energy saving measures throughout the estate.

Managing specialist sub-contractors, direct labour, and commissioning teams
*
Working collaboratively with hospital estates teams and key stakeholders to manage work on a live healthcare site
*
Overseeing all HSEQ compliance, permits, and RAMS
*
Supporting procurement, contract negotiation, and change control
*
Reviewing technical designs and ensuring buildability on site
*
Driving project completion and successful client sign-off
What You’ll Need
We’re looking for a project manager with a solid mechanical building services background, ideally gained within the energy, healthcare, or complex infrastructure sectors. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills are essential.

A proven track record managing mechanical installations on multi-million-pound schemes
*
Experience delivering projects within live or complex operational environments (e.g. hospitals, new build prisons, energy networks)
*
Mechanical/building services qualification (HNC/Degree or equivalent)
*
SMSTS, CSCS (Black or White Card), and relevant industry certifications
*
Excellent knowledge of mechanical services, heatpumps, CHP systems, LTHW, CHW, and associated plant
