Job Description
A friendly and inclusive secondary school in Taunton is looking for a Music ECT to join its vibrant Performing Arts department from September 2025.
This is an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified teacher to nurture musical talent in a school that places the arts at the heart of its community, with a strong tradition of concerts, ensembles, and cross-disciplinary projects.
The school has a dedicated music suite, including practice rooms, music technology facilities, and a large performance space. Students are encouraged to explore music both academically and creatively, with high levels of participation in extra-curricular activities.
As a Music ECT, you’ll:

Teach Music across KS3 and KS4, with potential for KS5 depending on experience
*
Lead extra-curricular groups such as choir, band, or songwriting club
*
Support school productions and inter-school music events
*
Foster an inclusive environment where every student feels confident to explore their musical identity
ECT support includes:

An experienced music mentor and regular developmental coaching
*
Weekly time set aside for planning and team collaboration
*
CPD opportunities with local music hubs and national music education networks
*
A nurturing culture that values creativity and wellbeing
What we’re looking for:
*
QTS (or due by July 2025)
*
A degree in Music or Music Education
*
The ability to play and teach one or more instruments
*
A passion for inclusive music education and student creativity
*
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
