Job Description

Leakage Night Technician Manager Location: Chatham and surrounding areas Hours: Night shifts – full-time (4x 10 hour shifts) Sector: Water Utilities We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Leakage Night Technician Manager to lead our clients night operations team in the Chatham area. This critical role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of night-time leakage detection and repair activities, helping to drive down water loss and ensure operational efficiency across the local water network. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Supervision * Lead and inspire a team of night shift leakage technicians. * Provide clear direction, support, and on-the-job coaching to ensure consistent performance and adherence to safety and quality standards. Leakage Detection & Field Operations * Oversee night-time field operations, including planned and reactive leakage detection surveys and initial repair coordination. * Ensure accurate testing and use of specialist equipment for effective identification of network issues. Data Collection, Analysis & Reporting * Review and interpret leakage data, identifying patterns and contributing to ongoing performance improvements. * Produce clear reports and updates for senior management and relevant stakeholders. Health, Safety & Compliance * Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations, environmental policies, and industry standards. * Promote a strong safety-first culture within the team at all times. Performance & Resource Management * Monitor team performance against KPIs and SLAs, addressing underperformance where necessary. * Manage budgets for equipment and materials, ensuring efficient and cost-effective operations. Stakeholder Engagement * Maintain effective communication with internal departments, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless operations and collaborative problem-solving. Problem Solving & Decision Making * Respond quickly to issues arising on-site, implementing solutions to minimise disruption and service loss. About You Experience & Background * Proven experience in a leakage detection or water utilities environment, ideally in a supervisory or managerial capacity. * Strong understanding of water distribution networks and leakage detection methodologies. Skills & Competencies * Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage, develop, and motivate teams. * Skilled in interpreting technical data, using leak detection equipment, and producing accurate reports. * Confident decision-maker with strong problem-solving and analytical skills. * Committed to upholding high safety standards and fostering a positive safety culture. Other Requirements * Comfortable working outdoors during night shifts in all weather conditions. * Physically fit – able to lift equipment, climb ladders, and carry out hands-on work when needed. * Full UK driving licence preferred.
