A highly reputable logistics provider is seeking an experienced Night Transport Manager to oversee night-time transport operations. This is a key role for a proactive, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is confident managing teams and logistics activity overnight.
Night Transport Manager – Permanent, Full-Time
Brentwood (with occasional travel to client sites as required) - Must Drive Due to Location
Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 5:00 PM – 2:00 AM – Flexible Monday – Friday 5pm/2am 6pm-3am
Salary: £42,000 – £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Role Overview:
As Night Transport Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the night shift, ensuring vehicles are dispatched and received in line with client requirements. The role involves staff management, route oversight, client communication, and ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory processes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage all night shift transport operations
* Coordinate driver tasks, trailer movements, and site dispatch
* Manage vehicle breakdowns and ensure all activity is accurately recorded
* Liaise with clients throughout the shift regarding any delays or issues
* Conduct detailed shift handovers and ensure documentation is completed
* Oversee night staff including recruitment, absence tracking, and performance reviews
* Ensure use of compliance tools and safety apps by drivers
* Escalate serious incidents or service risks to senior leadership
Candidate Requirements:
* Strong experience in transport or logistics management, preferably at night
* Good working knowledge of driver hours and compliance (CPC qualification advantageous)
* Excellent planning, communication, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work under pressure and meet performance targets
* Experience with shift handovers and team supervision
* Familiarity with operational software and documentation standards
