About The Role School-Based Occupational Therapist Location: Dan Y Coed School, Swansea Salary: Starting from £24,999.75 per annum (37.5 hours/week, Term-time only) FTE: £31,707 (Open to job share) Driver Essential: Yes About Us: At Orbis Education & Care, Dan Y Coed School in Swansea is dedicated to supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, as well as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our team and provide vital therapy to help children and young people thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our aim is to create an environment where all students, including those in early years, can grow, develop, and reach their full potential. About the Role: As an Occupational Therapist at Dan Y Coed School, you will play a key role in promoting the physical, sensory, and emotional development of the children and young people we support, including those in the early years phase. Working closely with school staff, families, and a multi-disciplinary team, you will develop and deliver tailored therapeutic interventions that help ensure every child reaches their full potential both in school and at home. Key Responsibilities: Therapeutic Interventions: Provide tailored OT support to individual children and young people, using evidence-based approaches such as Sensory Integration and Trauma-Informed Practices, including early years interventions. Assessment and Development: Assess the needs of children and young people, creating individual development plans (IDPs) to target fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, daily living abilities, and emotional regulation. Individual and Group Therapy: Deliver one-on-one and group therapy sessions, offering guidance and support to school staff, children, and their families. Environmental Adaptation: Adapt the classroom and school environment to support students' functional performance and enhance their independence, ensuring early years children have the necessary resources. Compliance: Ensure that therapy practices are in line with relevant educational policies and best practice guidelines.Qualifications & Experience: Essential: A degree in Occupational Therapy and HCPC registration (or supported to register). Experience working with children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), SEMH, or other special educational needs. Knowledge of sensory integration, motor development, and therapeutic interventions for emotional and behavioural needs.
