Title: P&C Design Engineer (Substations)
Job Type: Permanent
Location: North East (4 days office expectation initially)
Projects: Substation construction works up to 132kV
Salary: 60k-70k + market leading package
Key Responsibilities:
* Technically qualified with a HNC, degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a relevant qualification in Construction/power related.
* Experience of working on projects in the construction or electricity industries with a sound working knowledge of electrical power engineering design principles.
* Experienced in design work on voltages between 11kV and 132kV
* Fully conversant with the latest Transmission and Distribution standards & technologies.
* Working knowledge of all plant and equipment used on site.
* Experienced in setting and configuration of numerical protection relays.
* Good knowledge of Health & Safety regulations (including CDM Regulations) applicable to the design and operation of High Voltage substations.
* Able to take interact and co-ordinate other design disciplines including primary and civil designers.
* Applicants should hold a full UK driving licence Willingness to travel and participate in site meetings throughout the UK when necessary
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A strong and demonstrable commercial awareness coupled with an ability to closely identify opportunities to maximize return while ensuring complete customer satisfaction
* Positive attitude and willingness to learn and represent the department at project start-up, scheme review, progress, closeout, liaison and other meetings.
* Be prepared to work to deadlines and as part of a team to ensure success of the project

Essential experience:
* Proficient in ETAP and /or Digsilent
* 11kV to 132kV Switchgear design/drawings
* Protection relays and settings files
* Multicore schedules
* SCADA systems experience
