Job Title: Specialist PMLD Teacher with QTS
📍 Location: Wigan, Greater Manchester (includes St Helens & Liverpool – community & home-based settings)
💷 Hourly Rate: £26 – £30 PAYE
🕒 Job Type: Full-time / Part-time
📅 Working Hours: Flexible weekdays (minimum 10 hours per week)

Are you a compassionate and skilled teacher with a passion for supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)? We’re looking for a QTS-qualified educator to work 1:1 with pupils across Wigan and surrounding areas in non-traditional settings, such as at home or in the community.

🎯 Key Responsibilities
🧠 Deliver bespoke 1:1 teaching for learners with PMLD
🎨 Create and adapt sensory-focused lessons based on each pupil’s EHCP
💬 Support communication using AAC, PECS, Makaton, or Intensive Interaction
🤝 Work collaboratively with families, carers, and allied professionals
🌈 Promote social interaction, emotional wellbeing, and independence
📝 Maintain detailed records of progress, engagement, and outcomes
🩺 Follow care and medical protocols where required (training provided)
✅ Requirements
Essential:
🎓 Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
👩🏫 Experience with PMLD or complex learning needs
💡 Creative and patient approach to personalised learning
💬 Strong communication and interpersonal skills
🚗 Willing to travel locally (home visits/community settings)
🛡️ Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable:
📘 SEND, PMLD, or sensory training
🧩 Familiarity with EHCPs and specialist support planning
📲 Knowledge of assistive technology and inclusive teaching tools
🧸 Experience with physical support needs (e.g., moving & handling, feeding protocols)
