Group Principal - Electrical Substations Design
To £100,000 and extensive benefits
We are seeking the top person for this Primary Substation, Principal role. It will be the most senior person for electrical substation design in a large D&B organisation who are fast growing, and this person will be a key figure in the company development.
The right person will be an expert in;
Substations primary electrical design and will be able to lead and grow a team.
Be a qualified senior Electrical engineer with degree, and likely Chartered.
Skilled in team development and customer interaction as well as being the Group expert technically across our major client.
The salary and benefits are outstanding - to £100,000, plus extensive benefits.
Summary
The Substation Principal Engineer is a senior member of the Electrical Design group, responsible for leading the primary plant design team, involvement in work winning and overseeing customer projects. This involves group wide authority for Primary Plant, assisting in design co-ordination of T&D projects across the UK.
The role can be home or office based across the UK.
Responsibilities;
• Act as the technical authority and mentor and coach junior and senior design team members.
• Deliver Transmission and Distribution level substation primary plant design projects to targeted levels of quality, timeliness and profitability.to DNO and NGET standards.
• Deliver detailed Substation plant design, layouts, plant specifications, short-circuit calculations, cable system design calculations, TMF calculations, ancillary equipment selection and specification.
• Undertake site survey works and guide the team around constructability issues.
• Be responsible for the design liability and risks associated with the correct primary design in relation to design change, compensation events, safe operability and adherence to industry standards and requirements.
• Seek out innovative solutions to technical problems
• Lead the team on all primary plant design including transformers, GIS and AIS switchgear, Busbar and GIB, GIS cable termination through to MV AIS terminations, and other substation ancillary equipment at all system voltages up to 400kV
• Have sound analytical and numeracy skills to reliably undertake primary design calculations
