Job Description
We’re hiring for a Project Design Manager to lead a small team of engineers at a specialist manufacturing company in Wilmslow.
This is a hands-on leadership role that will see you managing the full lifecycle of bespoke mechanical design projects — from concept through to production — while supporting ongoing innovation and development across the department.

What will you be doing as a Project Design Manager?
* Leading and mentoring a small team of mechanical design engineers
* Managing project timelines, workloads, and performance development
* Producing and reviewing engineering drawings using SolidWorks
* Creating and maintaining BOMs and engineering change notifications
* Conducting FEA, stress calculations, and risk assessments (FMEA)
* Overseeing CE/UKCA compliance and industry-standard testing
* Supporting sales with technical proposals and client meetings
* Taking a proactive, hands-on role from design to completion
What do you need?
* A degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering
* Previous experience in a mechanical design role
* Strong 3D CAD modelling skills (ideally SolidWorks)
* Experience in leading engineering teams and managing design projects
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering documentation
* Working knowledge of FEA and mechanical calculations
