There are a wide variety of cutting edge programmes in the Mission Systems domain, covering a number of technical subjects, including complex weapon systems, state of the art communication systems and counter-drone technology to name but a few. The difference our new Planning Discipline Lead will make We are seeking an individual to join the Mission Systems team working on vast, complex projects within the defence industry. We are looking for a driven and experienced professional to develop and maintain a strong project planning & scheduling community, capability and culture across our Mission Systems business. Reporting to the Head of PM&PC, you will work with the other Discipline Leads (Cost/Estimating, Risk, Project Controls & Project Management) to ensure best practice approaches, governance and techniques, in line with Group policies, are embedded as part of our local operating model(s) and project delivery lifecycle - focusing on instilling strong foundations and forward looking, proactive approaches to delivery. You will be responsible for supporting the integration of new enterprise level planning & scheduling management toolsets, ensuring standardised and co-ordinate use across the entire portfolio. In your capacity as Discipline Lead, you will be responsible for leading the community of individuals specialised in planning & scheduling, including professional development, mentoring and coaching. You will also work with the PM&PC Operations Lead to generate a pipeline of suitably qualified and experienced planning & scheduling professionals in line with related delivery demand across the portfolio. You will also be self-motivated with the ability to transform complex problems into simple, elegant solutions. Experience You'll need to have proven experience in a similar role with the gravitas to lead from the front. We would also like you to have experience in all or some of these areas: Significant experience of project planning & scheduling management, control techniques and approaches. Significant experience in the use, administration and database maintenance of scheduling toolsets such as P6 (preferred) and MSP. Comprehensive experience of delivering/leading planning & scheduling management within projects and programmes for large and technically complex equipment or system delivery contracts. Experience of using, or working alongside, related Project Controls software tools (or similar) such as Active Risk Manager, RiskHive, Deltec Cobra, Safran or Primavera Risk Analyser etc. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to interact successfully at all levels. Experience of using ERP systems, including SAP/IFS (or similar) is desirable.Lastly, you'll need to be able to deploy good communication and influencing skills as you'll work closely with many internal and external stakeholders including regulatory bodies
