Job Purpose:
We are seeking a Proposal Engineer to join our team, responsible for preparing tenders related to high voltage cable testing for both AC and DC systems across Germany and other European countries. The role involves collaborating with technical experts and project management teams to ensure competitive, compliant proposals that meet client specifications and budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the preparation of tenders for high voltage testing and asset management consultancy projects, ranging from €15K to €2M.
Review and analyse tender documents, including technical specifications, drawings, and commercial terms to develop comprehensive proposals.
Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely and competitive submissions that align with client requirements and budgets.
Evaluate value engineering or cost-saving opportunities, ensuring proposals are both cost-effective and technically sound.
Identify risks, opportunities, and key differentiators throughout the bid process to enhance proposal success.
Work closely with engineering, project, and commercial teams to prepare accurate tender documents and compelling value propositions.
Coordinate with sub-contractors and sub-consultants to address technical and commercial aspects of the tender.
Engage with the supply chain to develop cost-effective, innovative solutions and ensure technical compliance.
Attend and lead tender handover meetings, ensuring smooth transition from proposal to project execution.
Manage client interactions during both the tender and post-tender stages, including clarifications and revisions.
Compile and assess technical submittals and responses to the tender return.
Work closely with the Tendering Engineer (UK) and the European Sales Team to develop comprehensive commercial proposals.
Person Specification:
Experience: 3-7 years of experience in tendering, estimation, or proposal management.
Industry Knowledge: Experience in the Transmission & Distribution field is desirable but not essential.
Language: Fluent in German (both written and spoken).
Flexibility: Willingness to travel across Europe as required.
Skills:
Strong understanding of tender processes and preparation.
Ability to evaluate technical and commercial aspects of proposals.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a strong ability to liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
