Job Description:
We are currently supporting one of the UK’s leading water industry contractors in seeking a Proposals Engineer to support the preparation and delivery of high-quality technical and commercial proposals for MEICA-focused projects across the UK water sector. This role is critical in winning new work and ensuring accurate, competitive, and technically compliant bids.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leads the development and submission of proposals and tenders across the water and wastewater sectors
* Reviews technical specifications and defines project scope in collaboration with engineering and commercial teams
* Prepares detailed cost estimates, working closely with procurement and subcontractors
* Drafts technical narratives, method statements, and supporting documentation in line with client requirements
* Liaises with clients to gather essential project information and attend bid meetings or site visits
* Ensures all proposals meet industry standards, regulatory compliance, and health & safety expectations
* Supports continuous improvement of bid processes and tools across the team
Key Experience Required:
* Proven experience in a proposals, estimating, or bid engineering role within the water industry
* Strong technical knowledge of MEICA systems and water/wastewater infrastructure
* Familiarity with UK water authority specifications (e.g., WIMES, DWI) and NEC contract formats
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating tools (e.g., Excel-based models or specialist software)
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with high attention to detail
Desirable:
* HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering
* Previous experience supporting AMP frameworks or similar capital works programmesBefore You Apply
