The Role – PRU Teaching Assistant
We’re looking for a proactive and empathetic PRU Teaching Assistant to join a supportive PRU in Lewisham. This role involves working closely with students aged 11–16 who have been referred to the provision due to behavioural challenges, trauma, or learning needs that cannot be met in mainstream education.
As a PRU Teaching Assistant, you will provide focused 1:1 support and work with small groups to help students manage their behaviour, re-engage with learning, and build confidence. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting young people with SEMH, ADHD, trauma-related behaviour, and additional educational or medical needs.
Your ability to remain calm, consistent, and nurturing will be key in helping students succeed in this alternative provision setting.
The School – Pupil Referral Unit in Lewisham
Located in the London Borough of Lewisham, this secondary PRU supports around 99 students aged 11–16 who have a range of complex needs, including SEMH, ADHD, and a history of trauma. The school is committed to providing a therapeutic and structured learning environment, with personalised learning pathways that help each student work towards success. The school was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in all areas during their last inspection in January 2022.
