QHSE Engineer- Fife
The Role
The QHSE Engineer role is essential in supporting the effective implementation and continual improvement of Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental standards across the business. This position focuses on maintaining compliance with ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001, driving internal audit programmes, and supporting the development of procedures and risk assessments. Key responsibilities include conducting audits, managing non-conformances, coordinating safety initiatives, and supporting inspections and documentation.
Responsibilities
* Conduct internal audits on Quality and Safety procedures, ensuring alignment with current legislation and actual practice.
* Implement NCRs and corrective actions arising from audits.
* Assist with updating manuals and procedures in line with legislation and best practices.
* Maintain incident/accident statistics and present monthly reports to management and clients.
* Manage the welding database for WPQR, WPS, and welder qualifications; coordinate new procedures when required.
* Perform risk-based assessments across workshop and office environments, identifying and mitigating high-risk processes.
* Manage and maintain Permit to Work, Lifting Plans, and Risk Assessments; deliver toolbox talks and training sessions as needed.
* Conduct safety inductions and internal safety training.
* Oversee facility management, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, machinery maintenance, and fire safety protocols.
* Participate in QHSE meetings and support client and third-party audits.
* Carry out inspections, including welding, dimensional, and mechanical checks.
* Compile quality documentation/data packs and support cross-departmental inspection activities.
* Promote a strong safety culture and demonstrate personal commitment to QHSE standards.
* Adhere to company and client Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental Management Systems.
Qualifications
Essential:
* Standard Grades or Highers in Maths and English or relevant industry experience.
* Internal Auditing Certification.
Preferred:
* NEBOSH certificate.
Experience
Essential:
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
* Strong knowledge of ISO 9001.
* Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Background in a manufacturing environment, ideally involving welding and fabrication.
* Excellent computer and keyboard skills.
Preferred:
* Knowledge of DNV, EN, ASME, and AWS welding standards.
* Familiarity with QA principles and continuous improvement techniques.
