Job Description:
Five Education is seeking a passionate and dedicated Qualified SEND Teacher to join a specialist provision or SEND department within a mainstream school in [insert location]. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language Difficulties, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The successful candidate will have the expertise to deliver a differentiated and creative curriculum tailored to the individual needs of learners, helping them to achieve both academic and personal development goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons that are accessible, engaging, and supportive of individual learning needs
- Differentiate and personalise learning based on EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) and other assessments
- Foster a nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating environment that promotes positive outcomes
- Manage challenging behaviours using positive behaviour support strategies
- Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and external agencies to meet the needs of each pupil
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and multi-agency teams
- Contribute to the wider life of the school community
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS)
- Experience teaching students with SEND, either in a special school or within a mainstream setting
- Sound knowledge of SEND Code of Practice and inclusive teaching practices
- Strong behaviour management skills and a positive, resilient attitude
- Ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families
- Right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
- Recent references covering the last two years
Desirable:
- Additional qualifications in SEND (e.g., NASENCO, Autism Education Trust training)
- Team Teach or positive handling training
