About the role
An opportunity has arisen for a Quality Inspector Team Lead to join our Client's Banbury based Quality department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment.
In this role you’ll lead the Quality Inspection team and Quality Technicians, supporting in the daily leadership of business priorities. As team lead you’ll be responsible for reporting completed actions and blockers to the senior team, alongside identifying areas for improvements within inspection and owning implementation.
What you will do
* Daily supervision of a team of Quality Inspectors and/or Quality Technicians
* Act as the lead for maintaining calibration of all inspection equipment within the Quality Department
* Provide technical support for report analysis.
* Contribute to daily build meetings and weekly programme meetings
* Ensure that all relevant procedures and documentation are accurate and complete.
* Ensure that strict adherence to quality standards is maintained throughout the department.
* Report and lead problem resolution within the work area.
* Ensure full control of parts within the Quality Inspection Area.
* Read and understand technical documents, drawings, and specifications. Understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
* Perform visual inspections of materials and components, liaising with the quality team, warehouse and manufacturing as required.
* Perform dimensional inspections of supplied components, in-process and finished manufactured components using CMM, shadowgraph and manual equipment in a timely manner.
* Responsible for accepting or rejecting materials, in-process and finished items according to defined requirements.
* Create Inspection and Control Plans to define required inspection needs and methods.
* Manage reject documentation following company procedures.
* Transacting product through inspection within the Microsoft Dynamics 365 MRP system
* Drive and maintain a 5s standard throughout the business.
* Promote all Health, Safety and Environmental guidance and regulations within the department.
* Challenge working methods to continuously improve team efficiency, quality of inspection, and safety within the area.
About you
* Experience and ability to supervise a team of quality inspectors and/or quality technicians in daily activities.
* Proven relevant metrology experience gained in a manufacturing environment, preferably in automotive volume production or a similar sector. Experience working with PPAP / FAIR submissions or similar is essential.
* Experience working with hand tools, CMM and associated measurement systems. Experience with this software is essential.
* Gage R&R experience
* You will have good attention to detail and a logical, methodical approach to ensure the accuracy of measurements and records.
* Organised, precise and pragmatic approach to working.
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to maintain high standards of staff and department presentation, as appropriate for a facility visited by potential customers and other VIPs.
* Flexible working approach
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and sustain a team-oriented environment.
* Ability to use your initiative and respond quickly to problems.
