Job Description

Religious Education (RE) Teacher – Secondary School – Burnley - September Start Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ and culturally diverse secondary school located in Blackpool. The school is seeking to appoint a passionate and knowledgeable RE Teacher to join their Humanities department from September on a full-time, long-term basis to cover a staffing vacancy. Location: Burnley Start Date: September 2025 Contract Type: Full-time, long-term Pay: Paid in line with your teaching scale (MPS/UPS) About the Role: Delivering engaging and thought-provoking RE lessons to students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Encouraging critical thinking, tolerance, and respect through a well-structured and inclusive Religious Education curriculum. Planning lessons, preparing resources, and assessing pupils in line with school policies and national standards. Creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that nurtures open dialogue and inquiry. Participating in departmental meetings, whole-school CPD, parents' evenings, and contributing to school life. The Ideal Candidate Will: Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification. Have a strong subject knowledge in Religious Education and a commitment to promoting understanding and respect for diverse beliefs. Be dedicated to fostering academic growth, curiosity, and personal development in young people. Possess excellent classroom management and interpersonal skills. Hold or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS on the update service. All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
