Sterling Recruitment Services have a fantastic opportunity for a Sales & Tendering Engineer to join our growing client based in Billingham.
We are seeking a suitably skilled and proactive Sales and Tendering Coordinator to oversee the preparation, management, and submission of Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs), Invitations to Tender (ITTs) and Expressions of Interest (EOI) across a range of sectors in the UK. You will also proactively manage the UK tender portals. The ideal candidate will have a background in tender portal management, excellent organisational skills, and an in-depth understanding of procurement processes. You will also play a key role in supporting sales initiatives, supporting marketing campaigns, maintaining client communications, and helping drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities:
* Tender Management:
Manage the end-to-end process of tender submissions, including PQQs, ITTs, and other related documents.
Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., legal, finance, technical) to gather necessary information and documentation required for tender submissions.
Review tender documentation to ensure understanding of the requirements and assess feasibility of submission.
Draft and prepare responses to PQQs and ITTs, ensuring alignment with company capabilities and requirements.
Ensure that all tenders are submitted within the set deadlines and comply with client specifications and guidelines.
* Sales Support:
Assist in preparing quotations, proposals, and tender documentation
Maintain and update the customer relationship management (CRM) system
Coordinate with the engineering teams to ensure accurate and timely delivery of customer requirements
Follow up on leads, quotes, and customer inquiries
* Marketing Support: Working closely with the Marketing manager you will:
Assist in the creation and distribution of marketing materials (e.g., brochures, flyers, newsletters
Assist in managing social media channels and post regular updates
Support the organisation of trade shows, exhibitions, and client events
Conduct basic market research and competitor analysis.
Assist in updating and maintaining the company website content
* Stakeholder Engagement:
Communicate regularly with internal stakeholders, ensuring they are informed and engaged throughout the tender process
Collaborate with the BDM and subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure accurate and compelling submissions.
Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, sector memberships and potential partners; to include attending various conferences and events representing the company.
Work closely with the Marketing department to understand branding, messaging and the use of standard formats and templates.
* Quality Assurance:
Ensure that all tenders are high quality, professionally written, and tailored to client requirements.
Conduct reviews of completed tenders, ensuring they meet organisational and client standards before submission.
Monitor and track tender success rates, identifying areas for improvement in processes and submissions.
* Market Analysis & Strategy:
Research potential tender opportunities, analysing market trends and competitive landscapes.
Assist in the development of bid strategies to improve tender success rates.
Provide input on pricing and commercial strategy based on market and competitor analysis.
* Compliance & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of all tender submissions and their status.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and company policies throughout the tender process.
Prepare reports on tender activities and performance for the BDM and senior management.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Experience:
* Proven experience in tender and portal management, specifically PQQ and ITT preparation.
* Strong understanding of procurement processes and best practices.
* Experience in managing and coordinating cross-functional teams for tender submissions.
* Previous experience in a sales, marketing, or administrative role (preferred)
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM tools
* Knowledge of social media platforms and basic content creation
* A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
* Interest or background in engineering, manufacturing, or industrial sectors (a plus)
* Education:
* A-Level, HND, or degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
* Skills:
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise, and compelling tender documents.
* Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
* Ability to analyse tender requirements, identify risks, and propose mitigation strategies.
* Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
