GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic and resilient Science Teacher to join a highly supportive SEMH provision in Chesterfield.
This rewarding role is ideal for a teacher who can deliver engaging science lessons while building strong, positive relationships with pupils who may face behavioural or emotional challenges. The successful candidate must be confident working in a structured, therapeutic environment and have a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
As a Teacher of Science, your responsibilities will be:
Plan and deliver dynamic and differentiated Science lessons across Key Stages.
Create a positive, safe, and stimulating learning environment.
Support pupils in overcoming barriers to learning due to SEMH needs.
Manage classroom behaviour with empathy and firm boundaries.
Work closely with support staff and external agencies to promote pupil progress.
Track student achievement and provide feedback to staff and families.
Deliver practical science activities that engage and motivate learners.
Foster resilience, confidence, and independence in pupils.
Contribute to the wider school community and therapeutic ethos.
Attend staff meetings, training, and reviews as required.
Science Teacher Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.
Experience teaching Science, ideally within an SEMH or SEND setting.
Excellent behaviour management and de-escalation techniques.
A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and inclusive teaching.
Must be a driver with access to a vehicle.
Full-time availability (Monday to Friday).
Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
