About the Role:
As a Secondary Teaching Assistant (TA), you will play a key role in supporting students across a range of subjects and year groups. Working under the guidance of class teachers and the SEN department, you will help to deliver targeted interventions, foster student engagement, and encourage academic success in a secondary classroom setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individual and small-group interventions in core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science.
Support students with special educational needs and/or additional learning needs.
Encourage positive classroom behaviour and engagement.
Assist with lesson preparation, classroom organisation, and resource management.
Foster student confidence and independence in learning.
Provide feedback to teachers regarding student progress and areas for development.
Job Requirements:
Previous experience working with secondary-aged students in an educational, youth work, or support setting is highly desirable
Knowledge of strategies to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges
Strong communication, patience, empathy, and a positive, can-do attitude
Ability to work flexibly across different subjects and year groups
A genuine passion for education and willingness to commit to a full-time role
Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
