Job Advertisement: Specialist SEN Teacher (SEMH, Autism, Anxiety, Behaviour & Trauma) Full-Time - 5 Days per Week | Immediate Start | Fixed-Term until the End of the Academic Year Aspire are looking for an exceptional Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher to join a highly supportive and inclusive educational setting, working with children who have complex needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), anxiety, behavioural difficulties, and experiences of trauma. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, running until the end of the current academic year, with the potential for extension or a permanent contract for the right candidate. ________________________________________ 🌟 The Role You will be working with a small group of students who require high levels of emotional support and a bespoke approach to learning. These pupils may have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and will benefit from consistent routines, therapeutic strategies, and a safe, nurturing environment. As the classroom teacher, you will: * Deliver a highly differentiated and creative curriculum tailored to individual needs * Create a predictable, structured, and trauma-informed learning environment * Work closely with pastoral and therapeutic teams to support students holistically * Implement behaviour regulation strategies using a relationship-based approach * Build trusting, consistent relationships with students who may find it hard to engage * Use a range of assessment methods to track both academic and emotional progress * Work collaboratively with families, external professionals, and SENCOs to develop and review EHCP targets and support plans ________________________________________ 💡 Who We're Looking For We are seeking a teacher who is: * Experienced in working with children with SEMH, ASC, anxiety, trauma and challenging behaviour * Calm, empathetic, and emotionally resilient, with a trauma-informed mindset * Confident in using de-escalation and therapeutic behaviour strategies * Skilled at adapting teaching methods and communication to meet diverse needs * Committed to inclusive education and passionate about helping every child succeed * Able to foster a warm, safe and respectful classroom culture * Comfortable working in a multidisciplinary setting, liaising with therapists, social workers, and SEN staff Qualifications & Experience: * Must have a QTS * Previous experience in PRUs, alternative provisions, specialist SEN schools, or mainstream with a strong inclusion ethos is advantageous * Up-to-date safeguarding and knowledge of SEND Code of Practice is essential ________________________________________ 🏫 About the Setting * Small class sizes (typically 6-8 pupils), with support from experienced TAs * Strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing, positive relationships and personalised learning * Supportive leadership team and access to CPD in areas such as trauma-informed practice, behaviour management, and mental health support * A collaborative, caring and values-driven staff culture ________________________________________ ✅ What We Offer * A chance to make a lasting difference to children's lives * Competitive salary based on experience * Full support from an experienced and understanding team * Ongoing CPD opportunities * A welcoming and inclusive workplace where your wellbeing is valued ________________________________________ To Apply: Please submit your CV and a brief covering letter outlining your experience and suitability for the role Aspire People Limited provides services as an Education Agency and an Education Employment Business.
