SEN Teaching Assistant Location: Bristol Job Type: Full-Time (Temporary with potential for permanent) Start Date: Flexible start – ASAP or after notice period Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience (£85 – £100 per day, PAYE) Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs? Five Education is looking for a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our supportive schools in the Bristol area. This is a rewarding role for someone who wants to work closely with children who may have a range of needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech & Language difficulties, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. The Role: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and the SENCo to support individual or small groups of pupils, helping them to access learning, develop independence, and thrive in a nurturing school environment. You may work 1:1 or within the classroom, adapting your approach to meet each pupil’s needs. Key Responsibilities: - Support children with a range of special educational needs (e.g., ASC, SEMH, ADHD, communication difficulties) - Deliver targeted interventions under the guidance of the teacher or SENCo - Assist with classroom tasks, differentiation, and learning activities - Promote positive behaviour and help manage any challenges calmly and effectively - Provide emotional and pastoral support to build trust and resilience - Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and outside agencies Requirements: - Previous experience supporting children or young people with additional needs (school, care, or youth work settings) - A calm, empathetic and patient manner - Enthusiasm for inclusive education and a willingness to learn - Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available) - Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply (Five Education can assist with this) Desirable (but not essential): - Experience with Team Teach or de-escalation strategies - Knowledge of EHCPs and individual learning plans - Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant childcare background What Five Education Offers: - Free specialist training (Team Teach, Makaton, Autism Awareness, etc.) - Support and mentoring throughout your placement - Transparent PAYE payroll with no hidden deductions - £150 Amazon voucher referral scheme - Free DBS (refunded after 20 days of work) Ready to take the next step in your education career?
