About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Level 2 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Wigan. This role involves supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism (ASD), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and other learning differences.
You will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping students access the curriculum, develop independence, and thrive in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide tailored support to SEN students, ensuring their individual learning and emotional needs are met.
Assist with personal care and mobility support where required.
Help implement EHCP targets and track student progress.
Use positive behaviour strategies to encourage engagement and confidence.
Support classroom routines and adapt learning materials under teacher guidance.
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including therapists and parents.
Ideal Candidate:
✅ Essential:
Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience).
Experience supporting SEN/SEMH students in a school or care setting.
Patience, empathy, and a calm, resilient approach.
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
✅ Desirable:
Team Teach or de-escalation training.
Experience with PECS, Makaton, or sensory strategies.
A driving licence (for roles requiring travel between sites).
