We are seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated and supportive team within a special needs provision for primary-aged children. This role involves working across different classes, providing one-to-one and group support to children with a range of needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).
💼 Key Responsibilities:
Support the learning and development of pupils with a variety of complex needs
Work across different classrooms to offer targeted assistance where needed
Implement individual learning plans under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO
Provide personal care and physical support for pupils with PMLD
Use a range of communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, and visual timetables
Help manage challenging behaviours in a calm and proactive manner
Foster a nurturing, inclusive, and safe learning environment✅ Requirements:
Proven experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role
Confidence and competence supporting children with PMLD, including personal care
Knowledge of Autism, ADHD, and a range of additional needs
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Resilient, adaptable, and emotionally intelligent
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning, or equivalent) are desirable
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)🎯 Desirable (but not essential):
Experience with manual handling and use of hoists
Basic understanding of sensory integration strategies
First Aid and/or Team Teach training
