GSL Education are currently seeking a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a supportive school in Ashington. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a full-time basis and make a meaningful difference in the lives of pupils with additional needs.
Role Overview:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide individualised support to students with a range of special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. Your role will involve working both 1:1 and in small groups, helping to ensure each child can access the curriculum and thrive in the school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide tailored support to students with EHCPs and identified SEN needs.
Assist the class teacher in delivering structured interventions and differentiated lessons.
Encourage pupil engagement and build strong relationships based on trust and understanding.
Monitor and report progress to SENCO and teaching staff.
Support emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies.
Promote independence and social integration within the classroom.
Requirements of SEN Teaching Assistant:
Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN, either in a school, care, or alternative provision setting.
Strong understanding of various learning needs, including ASD, ADHD, and SEMH.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to working with pupils.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
