Job Description
Five Education is seeking a confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) / Cover Supervisor to work in specialist and mainstream provisions supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a challenging yet rewarding environment and is looking to take on a varied role combining classroom cover, intervention work, and 1:1 support.
You will be stepping into a setting where pupils have complex needs including SEMH, Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language Difficulties, and other learning challenges. Your role will involve delivering pre-set lessons, managing behaviour in the absence of the class teacher, and supporting teaching staff in ensuring students remain engaged and progressing.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver pre-planned lessons and manage classroom activities as a Cover Supervisor.
Support students with SEND on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
Lead interventions focusing on literacy, numeracy, and emotional regulation.
Work closely with teaching and support staff to ensure consistent support and communication.
Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
Support positive behaviour strategies and maintain high expectations of conduct.
Essential Criteria
HLTA qualification or significant school-based experience in a similar role.
Experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly SEMH and Autism.
Confidence leading a class and managing behaviour effectively.
Adaptable, calm under pressure, and resilient.
Right to work in the UK.
Valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
