SEND Tribunal Lawyer
South Yorkshire Local Authority
Rate: £55-£60 per hour - Negotiable DOE
Contract: 3-6 months initially
FULLY REMOTE
A local authority based in South Yorkshire has reached out to us to help them find an experienced SEND Lawyer. As part of a strong and cohesive team, the successful candidate will work on a caseload of complex Special Educational Needs and education matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a case load of complex cases, comprising mainly SEN Tribunal cases, with minimum supervision.
Undertake advocacy in case management hearings and final hearings in first tier and second tier SEND Tribunal and to instruct counsel as appropriate.
Act as a point of contact on a variety of cases, including, taking instructions, giving advice, carrying out research, preparing applications, drafting documents and liaising with witnesses.
Attend client liaison meetings to discuss ongoing cases, providing reassurance of a high-quality service and protecting their best interests.
Key Requirements:
Qualified Lawyer/Solicitor with a current practising certificate.
Experience working in education/public law or in a complimentary area where your skills are transferrable.
Time management skills with the ability to take a diligent and methodical approach to planning work and prioritising tasks.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in order to build strong relationships with clients.
