Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Manchester
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor with a background in house building or main contracting to join our growing team. This role will be responsible for overseeing the financial and contractual aspects of multiple construction projects, ensuring cost-effective delivery while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the quantity surveying function across multiple projects, from tender through to final account.
Develop and implement cost control strategies to ensure projects are delivered within budget.
Oversee contract negotiations, procurement, and risk management processes.
Provide accurate financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting.
Assess and manage project variations, change orders, and valuations.
Ensure compliance with relevant construction contracts and regulations.
Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors within the team.
Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
Conduct commercial reviews and provide strategic input to optimize project performance.
Monitor and manage project cash flow, payments, and financial risk.Requirements:
Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry, specifically house building or main contracting.
Strong knowledge of contract law, procurement, and commercial management.
Proficiency in cost estimation, financial reporting, and risk assessment.
Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
Membership of a professional body such as RICS or CIOB is desirable.
