Senior Quantity Surveyor – Principal Contractor (Civil Engineering)
East London (Custom House / West Silvertown) | Permanent | Up to £85,000 + Car Allowance + Excellent Benefits
A leading principal contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage a major subcontract package on a high-profile civil engineering project in East London. Based near Custom House or West Silvertown, this is a key role within a fast-moving and commercially complex environment.
We’re looking for a confident, agile commercial professional with strong NEC contract experience and excellent communication skills to drive value, manage change, and maintain full commercial control of a significant subcontractor account.
Key Responsibilities:

Take ownership of a major subcontract package with complex change management
*
Administer and manage contracts in line with NEC principles
*
Work closely with project and commercial teams to forecast costs and ensure accurate reporting
*
Negotiate variations and compensation events effectively
*
Lead subcontractor meetings and maintain strong, collaborative relationships
*
Identify risks and opportunities to maximise commercial outcomes
*
Support junior team members where required
About You:
*
Proven experience in a Senior Quantity Surveyor role within civil engineering or infrastructure projects
*
Strong working knowledge of NEC3 or NEC4 contracts is essential
*
Track record of managing large subcontractor accounts with significant change
*
Commercially astute, highly organised, and confident in a client-facing environment
*
Able to work independently with sound judgement and initiative
*
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
