Full-Time Teacher of Sociology Required - Outstanding London School (September 2025 Start - Key Stage 4 & 5 Essential)
Our Outstanding mixed comprehensive school in London seeks a dedicated and experienced Full-Time Teacher of Sociology to join our thriving department and make a profound difference to the critical thinking, analytical prowess, and social awareness of our students across Key Stage 4 and, crucially, Key Stage 5, commencing in September 2025.
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Planning, preparing, and delivering highly effective and stimulating Sociology lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs and aspirations of our students across both key stages.
* Fostering students' deep understanding of key sociological theories, concepts, and research methods, with a strong emphasis on the comprehensive demands of the A-Level specification.
* Encouraging rigorous critical evaluation, independent inquiry, and ethical considerations in sociological study.
* Assessing and tracking student progress in Sociology across both key stages, providing insightful and constructive feedback, and implementing effective intervention strategies to ensure exceptional outcomes, particularly for A-Level students.
* Contributing actively to the development, implementation, and rigorous review of the Sociology curriculum across both key stages, ensuring alignment with examination specifications and providing extensive opportunities for sociological enrichment and debate.
* Utilising and contributing to the development of high-quality Sociology resources, including contemporary social research, case studies, and engaging critical activities.
* Contributing to extracurricular activities that promote sociological understanding within the school community (e.g., Sociology club, research projects, guest speakers).
* Collaborating effectively with colleagues within the department and across the wider school to foster a rich and interdisciplinary learning environment.
* Engaging in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practice and keep abreast of current developments in sociological thought and pedagogy, with a strong focus on A-Level teaching and assessment.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
* A degree in Sociology or a closely related highly relevant social science field.
* Successful and demonstrable experience teaching Sociology across Key Stage 4 (GCSE) and, crucially, A-Level.
* A strong and up-to-date understanding of the A-Level Sociology curriculum and relevant examination specifications.
* Exceptional pedagogical skills and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, particularly the academic rigour and depth required at Key Stage 5.
* A profound passion for Sociology and the ability to inspire and stretch students' critical thinking, analytical, and social inquiry skills.
* Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
* A steadfast commitment to the safeguarding and well-being of students and the promotion of sociological literacy within our vibrant London community.
