Special Needs Support Assistant - Complex Needs - Leatherhead
Location: Leatherhead
Hours: 9:15am - 3:15pm, Monday to Friday
Start Date: ASAP
DBS: Ideally on the Update Service
Are you passionate about supporting children with complex special educational needs? Do you have the resilience, empathy, and dedication to make a real difference in their day-to-day learning and development?
We are looking for a Special Needs Support Assistant to join a specialist provision in Leatherhead to work on a full-time basis, supporting students with complex needs in a caring and structured environment.
The role involves:
Supporting students with a range of complex needs including ASD, physical disabilities, non-verbal communication, and medical or sensory needs
Working 1:1 or within small groups to provide consistent, tailored support
Collaborating closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals
Using visual aids, Makaton, PECS, or other communication systems (training can be provided)
Assisting with personal care where required and ensuring a safe, engaging learning environment
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience or a strong interest in working with children with complex needs
Be patient, nurturing, and proactive
Have a calm and positive approach to behaviour support
Be available to work Monday to Friday, 9:15am-3:15pm
Hold a DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
