Job Description

Our daughter Anila is 18 and has a diagnosis of severe learning difficulties and autism, in spite of the restrictive nature of her diagnosis, she enjoys swimming, stories (particularly Julia Donaldson stories) music, nursery rhymes and pixar/walt disney movies. Anila has had some lovely PA's in the past, many of them students who have gone onto to do work related to their time spent with Anila. We are looking for somebody who would be interested in working @4 hours on a Saturday or Sunday (can be flexible). Core hours : 2pm - 6pm Number of Days work: @4 Sat or Sun afternoons a month (we also have availability during the school holidays for more work if you are interested.) Job Requirements Enabling Anila to access parks and swimming pools, ensure she is safe and content Reading with Anila Supporting Anila to communicate with her Picture Exchange Communication book and provide her with choice Using intensive interaction to build rapport and encourage communication with Anila Supporting Anila during mealtimes Personal care-supporting with toilieting Communicating with Anila's parents and sometimes sisters Car driver Person Specification Positive outlook Calm & energetic energy Takes a pleasure in reading books to children Ideally, some knowledge of picture exchange communication system Some knowledge and confidence to use basic Makaton sign (can be taught) Some knowledge of intensive interaction David Hewitt Ability to feedback information to parents either in writing or verbally
