Job Description

Secondary Teacher Location: Keynsham, BS31 Salary: £140-£150 per day (depending on experience and qualifications) Contract Type: Full-time starting 2nd September 2025 We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated full-time Teacher to join a specialist school in Keynsham that supports pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and a range of complex learning needs. Our students often face challenges in communication, sensory regulation, and social interaction, and may also present with associated learning difficulties or additional diagnoses such as ADHD, speech and language delays, or medical conditions. About the Role: We are looking for a teacher who is patient, emotionally resilient, and adaptable, with a nurturing approach to support children with diverse and sometimes profound needs. You will be working across both structured classroom settings and more flexible, sensory-based environments, helping each pupil to engage with learning in a way that is meaningful to them. Key Responsibilities: * Deliver personalised teaching to pupils with ASD and complex needs, using a variety of multi-sensory and structured approaches. * Implement and review individual learning plans (EHCPs) in collaboration with therapists and support staff. * Support emotional regulation and promote positive behaviour through consistent routines and low-arousal strategies. * Foster trusting relationships with pupils, many of whom may experience anxiety, social withdrawal or difficulty with change. * Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support communication, independence and life skills through both academic and practical activities. What We’re Looking For: * Strong emotional resilience, calmness, and a flexible approach to teaching. * Experience or interest in working with pupils with autism and/or significant learning needs. * A willingness to adopt a child-centred, therapeutic approach and work closely with families and specialists. * Open to professional development and feedback, with a collaborative mindset. Please Note: This is a rewarding yet demanding role. Many pupils require high levels of structure and consistent support, and may communicate through behaviours that challenge. If you're not prepared to navigate these complexities with patience and empathy, this may not be the right setting for you. Why Join Us? * Be part of a committed, experienced team focused on making a genuine impact in the lives of young people. * Work in a setting that values every child as an individual and promotes inclusive, personalised education. * Benefit from ongoing CPD, including training in autism best practices, sensory integration, and communication strategies
