Teaching and Learning Coach
Full-time hours
Key Purpose:
This role is key for the strategic ambitions of the college, to ensure excellent quality of provision in all areas. Supporting the academic staff within the college to develop their own practice, and thus raise the standard of teaching, learning and assessment experienced by the students. Teaching and Learning Coaches will work with a caseload of staff within their remit, in a supportive context, as well supporting the delivery of the Initial Teacher Training programmes at the college. As part of the role Teaching and Learning Coaches will complete an annual project focussed on improving or developing an agreed aspect of teaching, learning and assessment across the college.
Specific Responsibilities
Coaching responsibilities
To deliver, support, and monitor teaching, learning and assessment (TLA) within the college to meet the college strategic plan on our journey to excellence.
To work with the Assistant Principal – Quality and Performance and management team to support staff development and training needs through 1:1 support, delivery of sessions, observing staff, engaging in standardisation and moderation activities, supporting and mentoring new staff, overseeing and implementing key activities within the TLA strategy and supporting the college in its readiness for inspection.
To complete an annual cross-college project focussed on quality improvement of teaching, learning and assessmen. Agreed following proposal and discussion with the Assistant Principal – Quality and Performance.
To support with the planning and implementation of staff development activities throughout the year for academic staff.
To support the Assistant Principal – Quality and Performance in the reporting of teaching, learning and assessment activities and impact to the Senior and College Management Teams.
To deliver on the college’s initial teacher training programmes alongside other coaches and the Teaching and Learning Lead Teacher.
To work collaboratively with the TLA Team to ensure that an excellent level of support and development are offered to our staff, and that progress in made in the quality of education provided at the college.
Work with staff to identify development needs, targets and complete/track agreed development plans as a result, communicating progress and updates to line managers..
To collaborate and input into teaching, learning and assessment communication, and media, to ensure that all academic staff are updated with key information and opportunities on a regular basis.
To work with the Assistant Principal – Quality and Performance during Ofsted inspection and preparation activities to ensure that staff feel confident during, and for coordination purposes.
Other responsibilities:
To support and coordinate college projects that involve students collaboration and engagement in support of the Strategic Objectives.
Work closely with the wider curriculum, TLA, and management teams to support and develop staff across the college.
To attend and contribute to team and wider College development activities and meetings as required.
Work to a range of performance indicators relevant to the service provided, in order to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Represent the College at internal and external events
To participate in training activities both in College and externally
To undertake other additional duties, consistent with the role as may be deemed appropriate by your line manager

Demonstrate a commitment to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young persons and vulnerable adults in line with College policy
Health and Safety
Observe and remain aware of Health and Safety documentation and procedures in line with College policy.
Complete online courses on an annual basis and risk assessments as and when needed or applicable
Secure and maintain a safe learning and working environment, and ensure full compliance with the College’s Health & Safety policies and approved practices

Essential Qualification
PGCE, Cert Ed, DTTLs or equivalent teaching qualification
