Job Title: Technical Manager – Baked Goods Manufacturer
Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled Technical Manager to join our team and play a key role in ensuring the continued success and growth of our business.
Role Overview:
The Technical Manager will oversee the technical aspects of our baking production processes, ensuring that all products meet the company’s standards for quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. This role involves managing a team, liaising with production, quality control, and R&D departments, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a passion for baked goods and a strong technical background in food manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
* Quality Control & Assurance:
* Ensure the highest quality standards are maintained across all products.
* Develop and implement quality control systems and procedures in line with regulatory and customer requirements.
* Lead investigations into any non-conformances, corrective actions, and root cause analysis.
* Regulatory Compliance:
* Ensure all production processes comply with food safety regulations, including HACCP, BRC, and other relevant certifications.
* Stay updated on industry regulations and ensure all company policies are aligned with legal and safety standards.
* Team Leadership & Development:
* Manage and mentor the technical team, providing training and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
* Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Production, R&D, and Maintenance) to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
* Continuous Improvement:
* Lead initiatives to optimize production processes, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency.
* Drive product innovation and support the development of new products from a technical perspective.
* Reporting & Documentation:
* Maintain accurate records of quality audits, production reports, and technical documentation.
* Prepare and present technical reports to senior management.
* Problem-Solving & Support:
* Provide technical support to the production team during troubleshooting and day-to-day operations.
* Address customer complaints related to product quality and investigate potential improvements.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in a technical or managerial role within a food manufacturing environment, preferably within the baked goods sector.
* Strong knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, BRC, etc.) and quality management systems.
* Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
* A good understanding of production processes, machinery, and technical equipment used in baked goods manufacturing.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
* A degree or equivalent qualification in Food Science, Food Technology or a related discipline is desirable.
