Role Accountabilities:
- Deliver comprehensive financial and management accounting support, including revenue budget preparation, account closure, financial monitoring, and forecasting.
- Provide expert financial advice to service managers, ensuring robust financial procedures and processes.
- Conduct investigations, analytical reviews, and financial projects to optimise resource utilisation.
- Offer financial support on service and corporate projects, contributing to evidence-based reporting and benchmarking.
- Ensure compliance with government returns and other financial data requests, supporting corporate revenue and capital returns.
- Foster a culture of empowerment among budget holders, promoting value for money services.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Full CCAB (or equivalent qualification) preferred, though extensive experience in a similar role will be considered.
- Proven ability to provide professional advice on complex financial matters to management and members.
- Experience in a finance business partner role within local government or the public sector.
- Proficiency in interpreting and implementing regulations, procedures, and accounting changes.
- Capability to meet tight deadlines amidst conflicting demands and priorities.
- Strong knowledge of financial systems, excellent spreadsheet/financial modelling skills, and extensive use of MS Office.
- Ability to challenge prevailing views constructively and innovate in collaboration with services.
