Job Description

Glaucoma UK is the charity for people with glaucoma. Our vision is to end preventable glaucoma sight loss. We want everyone with glaucoma to be able to live well with the condition, and to make this a reality we raise awareness of glaucoma, support people to live well with glaucoma, and support research. This role will deliver Glaucoma UK's outreach, training and engagement strategy in Wales, including raising awareness among the general public, providing services for people affected by glaucoma and delivering training to health care professionals. Responsibilities: * Conduct community outreach by building trusted relationships, gathering insights from under-represented communities at higher risk of glaucoma, ensuring these insights inform service delivery. * Raise awareness by delivering talks, running campaigns, and distributing materials that encourage regular eye testing, treatment adherence, and engagement with Glaucoma UK’s services. * Support people with glaucoma by maintaining local support groups, attending clinics, organising patient conferences, and distributing Glaucoma UK information resources. * Deliver training sessions for eye care professionals, demonstrating practical support tools and techniques for managing glaucoma, including addressing barriers to treatment adherence. * Organise and Co-deliver digital support programmes such as webinars and virtual support groups, ensuring they meet the needs of service users. Ideal Skills/Qualifications: * Builds and maintains strong, effective relationships with a variety of stakeholders, adapting to meet diverse needs and perspectives. * Demonstrates excellent networking and collaboration skills * Communicates clearly * Facilitates meetings and presentations with confidence and clarity * Applies problem-solving skills to understand stakeholder needs * Displays empathy and emotional intelligence * Uses digital tools and technology confidently * Demonstrates a strong work ethic and commitment to the organisation’s values * Acts with enthusiasm and initiative * Champions inclusivity and diversity * Collects, interprets, and applies data effectively Location: Home-based, with regular travel across Wales and occasional trips to the charity’s Head Office in Ashford Hours of Work: 17.5 hours per week (0.5 full time equivalent) Salary: £31,116 FTE (£15,558 actual salary)
