My client is recruiting for a Technical Director in the Water Sector
Role:
Reporting to the Managing Director for the UK, the Water Technical Director will direct and manage Contract Managers and Site Teams for the Water business unit. This position will have full ownership and responsibility for ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely execution of multiple projects per deadlines, budgetary, programme, and quality requirements.
Responsibilities include:
Preparation of business strategy, business plans and the setting of business objectives and targets for the water team, subject to the approval of the Managing Director for the UK.
Identifying business opportunities and communicating to the CCO or their team to ensure a proactive approach to new opportunities
Maintaining regular contact with current and past clients and be aware of water trends with a view to identifying new work opportunities
Developing and maintaining relationships with the clients and their representatives
Planning, managing and delivering all contracts in a performance and fashion that epitomises the company's vision, strategy and values
Ensuring customer requirements are managed and met in a timely manner in line with Company's customer relationship management processes, programs and policies
Preparing budgets, schedules, and other organisational reports as required for the Water team
Ensuring commercial and contractual compliance with company policies and procedures on all projects
Reviewing project costs, budgets, forecasts and resource requirements
Promoting the business, its services, and brand at every opportunity to existing and potential employees, supply chain partners, and clients. This will involve participating in speaker engagements with colleges, sector conferences, and more.
Developing and maintaining the Water business unit plan to improve efficiencies, reduce costs and implement strategies, procedures and policies
Integrating and communicating with other departments and business units to ensure effective and efficient delivery of all aspects of a project
Providing recommendations and measures for improvement to operating procedures
Fostering a collaborative culture of design and construction ethos throughout all department staff
Monitoring project productivity and investigating reasons for poor/good performance
Ensuring early project planning with great detail and foresight
Carrying out tendering activities as required and collaborating with the tendering & pre-qualifications department
Train and mentor water team members to ensure a high standard of technical, customer relationship management and commercial understanding and performance
Ensure that clear roles & responsibilities and deliverables are defined for all Water team members
Own, Identify, develop, and retain high-potential team members. Ensure that quarterly conversations are conducted in a timely manner and that development plans are noted in the performance management tool.
Lead the continued rollout and development of the site segment of the IFS ERP system for the water team in UK and ensure that it is used efficiently. Identify areas for improvement to streamline processes and eliminate manual and time-consuming activities where possible.
Ensure that the team adhere to all company policies and procedures
Embrace and positively promote culture programs that are rolled out to ensure the business has the right company and team culture.
Adhering to Company Safety Standards and promote safety culture and ensuring that HSQE Management Systems and processes are adhered to, implemented and maintained within the Water team.
Contribute content to the marketing and BD teams as required.
Requirements:
Masters/Degree in Engineering
Significant experience within the Water Sector
It is important for this role to be a Chartered engineer with a relevant UK Engineering body
Significant Prior Experience as Operations/Regional Director or Manager Required
Strong People Management and Leadership skills
Experience of managing large multidisciplinary water teams across UK
Technical Knowledge in the water sector
Excellent Communication Skills, Both Verbal and Written
Strong Problem-Solving Skills
Computer literate
Highly Adaptable to Change and understanding the rationale for regular change
Driven to Achieve Results
Exceptional Coaching Skills
Strong Decision Making, Action Planning, and Prioritization Skills
