Job Description

In-Person Tutor - Inspire & Support Students Out of School - September Start Flexible hours | Highly rewarding | Term-time only | SEN, SEMH, and Behavioural Support Do you have the patience, empathy, and skills to help young people reconnect with learning? We're looking for dedicated In-Person Tutors to provide tailored 1:1 support to children and teenagers who are currently unable to attend school due to special educational needs, social/emotional challenges, or mental health difficulties. You'll deliver personalised learning sessions designed to build confidence, spark curiosity, and re-establish trust in education. This is a chance to make a real difference-helping one student at a time to see their potential. What You'll Be Doing Deliver 1:1 tuition during school hours (typically 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday). Support learners in their homes or community spaces when they cannot attend mainstream school. Teach core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science, adapting methods to suit individual needs. Focus on emotional engagement as well as academic progress. Liaise with parents/carers, schools, and external agencies to ensure consistent progress tracking. Keep clear, detailed records of student achievements and areas for development. Hours & Flexibility Most students receive 6-15 hours of tuition per week. Work takes place during school hours-your evenings and weekends are free. More hours available if you wish to take on additional students. Perfect for experienced educators seeking flexible, rewarding term-time work. What We're Looking For Background in teaching or tutoring, especially with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs. Ability to work independently and adapt to a flexible schedule. Strong communication skills with a talent for building rapport with reluctant learners. Resilience, creativity, and patience to support progress at each learner's pace. Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one) and safeguarding knowledge. Access to a car and full driving licence is often required. Why This Role Matters Many of the young people you'll work with have been out of school for long periods. Your sessions might be the first positive educational experience they've had in years. This role is about more than teaching-it's about showing up, believing in them, and helping them believe in themselves. If you're ready to inspire learners who need extra help-and you want flexible work that truly makes a difference-we'd love to hear from you
