Are you a patient, resilient, and compassionate Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
We are currently seeking a 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a pupil on an individual basis within a welcoming and supportive school in Burnham. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who wants to make a meaningful difference by helping a child overcome barriers to learning and development.
About the Role
Providing 1:1 support to a child with SEMH needs throughout the school day
Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour management, and engagement in learning
Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school team to implement tailored support strategies
Helping to create a safe, calm, and structured environment where the pupil can thrive
Encouraging positive behaviour, independence, and social skills development
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Be calm, empathetic, and resilient with a strong understanding of SEMH needs
Have experience supporting children with SEMH, challenging behaviour, trauma, or ADHD (school-based or similar settings)
Be confident providing consistent 1:1 support and managing emotionally challenging situations
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
Be proactive, flexible, and committed to supporting a child’s individual needs
Have a strong commitment to safeguarding and child welfare
