Are you a passionate graduate, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker or Behaviour Support Worker looking to work with children that really need you?
You don't necessarily need to have school-based experience, sports graduates, sports coaches, youth workers and care workers are also welcome to apply also. We are seeking passionate individuals that have a desire for supporting children with challenging behaviour and SEN.
About the Role
The role of a 1:1 SEN Support involves working in mainstream Primary schools, often in a dedicated SEN provision to provide tailored support for pupils with a diverse range of special educational needs.
Requirements
Proven experience supporting individuals with special educational needs (in either adult or child settings)
Recognised qualification in education, behaviour support, care, residential or Social Work sectors
Confident designing and adapting individualised behaviour and learning support plans
Experience working with adults or children with Autism, ADHD, sensory processing difficulties, or learning disabilities
The ability to maintain a calm composure to ensure a proactive approach to high pressure and emotionally demanding situations
Full UK driving licence or ability to access public transport
Enhanced Child’s DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Responsibilities
Develop and implement proactive learning support plans, working 1:1 or leading small group sessions
Support classroom engagement and facilitate inclusive learning experiences
Implement behaviour management strategies, particularly in challenging situations
Provide consistent support to pupils, assisting with emotional regulation and independence
Communicate with staff, parents and external professionals to ensure consistent supportive care and development
