1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
About the School
Teach Now is seeking a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a large, vibrant four-form-entry primary school in Barnet from September 2025.
You’ll be joining a creative and ambitious school community that fosters a coherent learning journey from Reception to Year 6. With a strong sense of teamwork, a shared purpose, and a caring environment, the school places equal importance on academic achievement, personal growth, and wellbeing. It’s a place where children are encouraged to excel academically, creatively, and socially, while staff are supported and valued.
About the Role
Are you a patient, attentive, and proactive educator looking to make a real difference in a child’s life?
This is a rewarding opportunity to support a bright, capable pupil who requires additional help with writing—an area where he needs encouragement, structure, and consistency. While he is generally focused, you'll need to recognise signs of disengagement and confidently redirect him, ensuring he stays on track and continues progressing within the curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide tailored 1:1 support focused on improving writing skills
• Break down tasks into manageable steps and maintain engagement
• Recognise and respond to disengagement appropriately
• Promote a calm, structured, and encouraging learning environment
• Collaborate with teachers and SENCOs to adapt learning strategies
What We’re Looking For
• Experience supporting children with additional needs (SEN), ideally with a focus on literacy
• A calm, observant, and adaptable nature
• Ability to work independently while remaining a collaborative team member
• Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
Why Apply?
• Be part of a large, well-resourced school with a strong team spirit
• Receive ongoing support from experienced educators and leadership
• Access to continuous professional development opportunities
• Make a lasting impact in a role that truly matters
If you're ready to guide and uplift a young learner on their educational journey, we’d love to hear from you.
