1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant About the school We’re looking for a dedicated 1:1 SEN teaching assistant to join a warm and inclusive primary school in Finchley, Barnet this September. Staff describe the school as friendly, supportive and “like a second family.” The role This full-time role involves working closely with a child who is joining reception in September. The pupil has high needs, including autism, is non-verbal, and requires assistance with personal care. We’re ideally seeking someone who has experience in early years settings and a strong understanding of autism and sensory needs. Key responsibilities • Provide 1:1 support to a reception child with complex SEN needs • Assist with communication strategies, sensory activities and emotional regulation • Support with personal care needs throughout the day • Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support Ideal candidate • Experience working with children with autism, ideally in an early years setting • Understanding of non-verbal communication techniques (e.g. PECS or Makaton) • Empathetic, reliable, and committed to inclusive education • Comfortable providing personal care support If you're ready to make a meaningful difference in a child’s life while working in a school that truly values its staff, we’d love to hear from you.
