Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has opened for a Account Manager to join their dynamic operations team. You’ll be leading engineering teams to deliver high-quality mechanical and electrical building services maintenance across a designated client portfolios. What You’ll Be Doing:
* Act as the principal interface between the client and the business, ensuring expectations are managed and consistently met. Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with key stakeholders, regularly attending client meetings, reviewing service delivery, resolving escalations, and identifying opportunities to enhance service performance and client satisfaction.
* Lead and manage a team of mobile and site-based engineers, including a dedicated Lead Engineer. Provide guidance, mentorship, and development opportunities to support individual and team growth. Champion a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and safety awareness through regular team briefings, performance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Ensure the effective, compliant, and profitable delivery of maintenance contracts across multiple sites. Maintain full operational ownership of the contract lifecycle, including mobilisation, service planning, resource allocation, risk management, and budgetary control. Ensure all contractual obligations are met and exceeded, in line with SLAs, KPIs, and client expectations.
* Oversee the delivery of both Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance services, ensuring all works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required standard. Use CAFM systems to monitor task completion, analyse trends, and drive performance improvements. Prioritise first-time fixes and proactive maintenance strategies to minimise downtime and disruption.
* Manage third-party supplier and subcontractor relationships, ensuring all works are completed in compliance with contract specifications, health & safety legislation, and company procedures. Conduct audits, monitor performance against SLAs, and ensure all necessary documentation (RAMS, insurances, accreditations) is current and in place.
* Produce and present operational reports detailing contract performance, site activity, and KPI compliance. Monitor contract financials including cost tracking, invoicing accuracy, margin protection, and WIP. Collaborate with finance and commercial teams to manage risk, support credit control, and ensure profitability is maintained or improved.
* Support the identification and delivery of growth opportunities within existing contracts. This includes managing variations, quoting for additional works, and assisting in the mobilisation of new contracts. Work closely with the business development and commercial teams to support tenders, client proposals, and strategic account expansion.
* Work alongside HR to assist in recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of site personnel. Support welfare and performance management processes, including return-to-work meetings, appraisals, and disciplinary procedures where required. Promote a positive workplace culture that prioritises wellbeing, diversity, and inclusion.
What We’re Looking For:
* You will bring a solid technical foundation in either the electrical or mechanical building services industry, ideally supported by formal qualifications such as an NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent trade certification. This technical expertise will enable you to understand the complexities of building services systems, assess risks, and make informed decisions when managing engineering teams and subcontractors.
* You will have a proven track record in managing Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) maintenance contracts within a Facilities Management environment. This includes end-to-end responsibility for service delivery across multiple sites or a key client portfolio, managing planned and reactive maintenance, statutory compliance, contract variations, and commercial performance.
* Strong leadership capabilities are essential. You will have experience in managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams, including Lead Engineers and mobile/static operatives. Your role will involve setting performance expectations, mentoring, conducting regular reviews, and creating a positive, motivated, and compliant team culture. You’ll be comfortable leading from the front and driving operational excellence through proactive team engagement.
* Confident in dealing with senior client stakeholders, you will be capable of building trusted relationships and effectively managing expectations. Your communication skills—both written and verbal—will be key in presenting reports, handling escalations, delivering performance reviews, and participating in regular client meetings to ensure continued satisfaction and service improvement.
* Your technical knowledge will allow you to confidently support engineers and subcontractors with troubleshooting, technical queries, and complex fault resolution. You’ll act as an escalation point for technical issues, ensuring quality standards are maintained and works are delivered in line with both statutory regulations and client requirements.
* You’ll be comfortable working with compliance management tools and contract reporting platforms such as Elogbooks, Planon, Concept Evolution, or similar CAFM systems. You will use these tools to track KPIs, close down actions, generate reports, manage reactive and PPM workflows, and ensure audit readiness across your contracts.
* This role demands the ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-pressure environment where priorities can change rapidly. You’ll be adept at managing multiple workstreams, responding quickly to issues, and delivering results against contractual SLAs, financial targets, and operational deadlines—all while maintaining service quality and compliance standards
