Accounts Assistant - Accountancy Practice
Our client is a well-established and forward-thinking accountancy practice with deep expertise in the medical sector, providing tailored support to a wide range of healthcare professionals - including hospital doctors, GPs, dentists, and private medical practitioners. Their team of experienced chartered accountants and support staff work closely with clients to deliver high-quality, proactive advice across tax planning and compliance, payroll, accounts preparation, trusts, and wider financial advisory coordination.
They are currently seeking a highly organised and proactive Accounts Assistant to join their collaborative team. This role offers a varied workload and the opportunity to support a small group of dedicated accountants (typically up to four), while developing strong client-facing skills and gaining broad experience within a busy and professional environment.
The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. They'll bring a proactive attitude, show initiative, and present themselves professionally in a client-facing environment. Flexibility and adaptability are key, as the role involves working across multiple teams and priorities.

Responsibilities
Perform bank reconciliations accurately and on time
Support new client onboarding and ensure all records are kept up to date
Maintain and update client databases with relevant and timely information
Liaise directly with clients and third parties, including HMRC and financial advisors
Review and update client tax codes where appropriate
File company confirmation statements
Assist with the filing of company accounts and corporation tax returns
Prepare and file personal tax returns
Generate and issue client invoices under the guidance of the accountants
Carry out general administrative duties, such as handling post, answering calls, and managing office supplies

Requirements
Previous experience in an accounts or finance support role
Working knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks)
Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
Strong numerical skills and attention to detail
Excellent time management and organisational abilities
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
Comfortable communicating with clients and external stakeholders
