Accounts Manager Salary: £45,000 - £47,000 per annum Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Location: Biggleswade, Office Based We are recruiting for an experienced Accounts Manager to lead a finance team, oversee core financial processes, and ensure compliance with UK regulations. The role involves hands-on management of ledgers, payroll, VAT/CIS returns, and financial reporting, while supporting continuous improvement across systems and processes. Responsibilities: Lead and develop the accounts team, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP, SORP, and statutory regulations. Oversee Sales and Purchase Ledger: invoicing, collections, payments, and approvals. Maintain accurate financial records in SAGE 200 and SICON. Reconcile cash books, bank accounts, and general ledger balances. Monitor and report potential bad debts. Act as the main contact for VAT and CIS: prepare and submit returns (UK, EU, Dubai, Ireland). Liaise with HMRC and external advisors on VAT and CIS matters. Process monthly payroll for UK and international staff, including commissions and year-end reporting (P60s, P11Ds). Reconcile payroll-related accounts and ensure PAYE compliance. Maintain the Fixed Assets Register, including depreciation and disposals. Prepare management accounts, month-end journals, and support year-end financial statements. Assist with audits, budgets, and financial planning. Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, processes, and controls. Key Requirements: Proven experience leading a finance or accounts team. Strong knowledge of VAT (UK, EU, international), CIS, and payroll legislation. Hands-on experience with payroll processing and reporting. Proficiency in SAGE 200, SAGE Payroll, SICON, and Excel. Multi-currency accounting experience. Desirable: background in manufacturing or project costing. Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and compliance awareness.
