Job Description

Accounts Receivable Officer Location: Floor 1, Civic Offices, PO1 2AL Start Date: ASAP Contract Duration: 6+ Months Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 09:00 – 17:00, 37 Hours per week Pay Rate: £ 13.30 per hour Job Ref: (phone number removed) We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team in Portsmouth. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing accounts receivable functions within the financial department. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a commitment to ensuring accurate financial records. Responsibilities Manage and process incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures. Perform day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, posting, and recording accounts receivable data. Reconcile the accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted. Generate financial statements and reports detailing accounts receivable status. Investigate and resolve any irregularities or inquiries related to receivables. Assist in developing strategies for improving cash flow and reducing outstanding balances. Collaborate with internal departments to ensure smooth operations and accurate financial reporting. Person Specification Proven work experience in accounts receivable or a similar role. Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and accounting software. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
