Adaptations Officer - Interim Contract

£26 per hour (negotiable) - Inside IR35
Initial 5-month contract - Full-time, 37 hours per week
Cambridge City Council is seeking an Adaptations Officer to join our Asset Management team on an interim basis. You will play a vital role in improving accessibility within our housing stock by delivering adaptations and alterations that help frail and disabled tenants live more independently.
Key Responsibilities
·Implement the Council's Adaptations Policy, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of works to residential properties.
·Work closely with Occupational Therapists, tenants, and other stakeholders to assess needs and approve adaptations in line with legislation and policy.
·Manage the end-to-end process - from feasibility surveys and contractor instruction to on-site inspections and sign-off.
·Maintain accurate records, monitor budgets (approx. £850k annual programme), and process invoices and variations.
·Arrange servicing/repairs for specialist equipment and manage tenant contributions where applicable.
·Represent the service in meetings and liaise with internal teams such as City Homes, Housing Advice, and Voids.
About You
You will bring:
·Experience in contract/project management within building maintenance or construction.
·Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate tactfully with tenants in sensitive situations.
·Knowledge of domestic construction techniques and an understanding of accessibility adaptations.
·Proficiency in MS Word and Excel, with excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
·A full driving licence and ability to travel to sites.
Essential Qualifications
·Level 4 qualification in a relevant subject.
·Key Skills Level 2 in Maths & English.
Additional Information
·This role is subject to a DBS check.
·Flexible working available, but regular site visits are required.
